No reason not being pro probiotics

Don't be surprised when your GP or even a specialist doctor frowns upon your mention of or your queries about the goodness of probiotics. We have come across GPs saying probiotics is an unnecessary add-on to the diet which can be done away with.  This is absolutely ridiculous because it shows an ignorance on what probiotics is all about.  Probiotics is actually not the way Western medical science thinks it should be -- in capsules and labelled as "100 million friendly bacteria" or something like that.

We are talking about foods which have probiotics and foods which are prebiotics.  GPs are missing the point, what more to say of those without medical or biology knowledge.  Can we excuse the GPs on this?  These are people of scientific background and they are a disgrace and doing injustice to their ilk.

There are many unpalatable reasons for this nonchalance by mainstream medical people to happen and one of which is 'probiotics' has never been given enough focus in the curriculum of mainstream therapeutic health. As the saying goes the doctor is as good as the education and training. Furthermore, GPs also need refresher courses but how many adhere to this requirement.

Sadly, a neglect of probiotics is never advantageous to a normal healthy person what more to say about a patient under heavy dosage or long exposure to antibiotics because decimating the flora populace in the gut (alimentary canal) is highly injurious to health and has been linked to morbid overgrowth of fungus population in those areas where pathogenic fungi is part and parcel of human flora, especially the gut and vagina.  Morbid overgrowth of pathogenic and toxigenic fungi is now highly suspected to be linked to, but not limited to, inflammation, cysts, perforated ulcers, tumors and plaques.

The problem is modern medical science is adamantly founded on the perspective that health is about fighting 'terrorists' such as bacteria and viruses or so-called mutated cells using antibiotics, chemotherapy, designer drugs and nano-particles, etc.  This is a totally gross misplaced prejudice and might even be highly dangerous because this puts the body as a 'zombie' war zone where the body itself is hopeless, and requires the help of a bigger than life MEDICAL SCIENCE (spelt in capitals)  to put the body back in order.  What a tall story.

Are you buying that tall story?   Though this is not defined anywhere as being so, as far as I know, the way medical science develops all those therapies which seem to make the body weaker and in turn make the microbes stronger, can you help it but to surmise that the very perspective of health which modern medical science is founded upon has been warped for some strange reasons.

The fact is that the human body houses an ecological balance of sorts in flora population; 'climactic conditions' like pH (acidity alkalinity), bio-electrical balance, and ionic balance; and even content ('demographic') proportion in blood components, nutrients, dissolved gases and ions.

It is natural for this ecological balance to be in constant dynamic motion of being off-balance and back-in-balance again and this cyclic condition repeats itself without end.  Good health happens when there is balance; but when balance is stubbornly in topsy-turvey dis-eases arise.  The body can sound off alarms (symptomatic signals) when an illness happens and the body can actually heal itself with minimum fuss but with the right understanding and taking action based on that understanding.

Probiotics is part of the demographics of ecological balance and to discount the role of probiotics because it supposedly does not belong in the prime functions of the body tells a lot about the dubious course mainstream modern medical science is taking.

Some examples of popular sources of probiotics are:

Bulgarian yoghurt (sour milk), commonly consumed plain, is popular for its taste, aroma, and quality. The qualities arise from the Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus culture strains used in Bulgaria. In 1907 Metchnikoff proposed that the acid producing bacteria in fermented milk products could prevent “fouling" in the large intestine and, if consumed regularly, lead to a longer, healthier life.  More
